Blueshift - The thoughts behind it
The denotation behind the name 'Blue-shift' the band should give. The idea that in science terms a 'blue-shift' in an increase in energy and frequency in electronic waves. The theory is that a blue-shift is an energy which comes towards you, connotations of this could be that the future is coming towards you. Blueshift is the future and the energy behind them is their music - as if the upcoming of the band is an unstoppable force. The denotation of the colour blue - the main theme colour of the band and the website associated with it as well as a part of the band name - gives the sense of depth and stability. It symbolises traits such as trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence and intelligence. This being a sign that Blueshift is a band of which you can relate to and trust to always provide the best honest work it can. A shift denotes a change in a different direction, Blueshift is exactly this. A change in the pop industry where EDM meets Pop and the energy met between them blows up in popularity. A shift could also signify a replacement of others, implying that Blueshift is replacing the old with the new in an industry seeming to repeat itself in recent times.
This links in well to the EDM (electronic dance music) face of the band, with the genre being popularly energetic and bouncy. The EDM-Pop hybridity in the song allows this and is influential in the capture of my audience as, although argued to be a niche genre, it is forever increasing in popularity- especially to young people in my demographic.
