Evolution of the Blueshift logo

A logo is a combination of text and visual imagery. It serves two purposes:

  1. Telling people the name of the company.

  2. Creating a visual representation that people will relate your business to.

The focus behind the Blueshift logo is that it is simplistic but relates to the name of the band. It doesn't necessarily need to connote a musical vibe but must explain the name "Blueshift' in a picturesque manner and connote a cosmological and futuristic style. The futuristic style is intended to fit the slogan of the band - "making the future now". The logo doesn't not necessarily need to look professional as it is for a fun-loving 16-25 demographic but must have a maturity about it.

Too Unprofessional

BLUESHIFT LOGO V2

This has a childish feel about, making it unprofessional and unsuitable for my target demographic of 16-25 who would likely want to be treated more maturely. The design, although with hidden meaning, does not have clear enough signs being conveyed.

Not enough meaning

This design is simple and easy to be able to relate to in the sense that it is recognisable. However there is not enough meaning behind it. The shift key integrated within it to convey technology and futurism is not clear and precise - it cannot be misleading.

Title not clear enough

This logo design is a great step in the right direction. It is futuristic and cosmic, creating a sense of the scientific nature of the band name 'Blueshift'. The lens flare creates a sense of prestige and reputability, whilst also adding the space shift feel and drawing focus onto the name of the band. However, the font of the band name is not clear enough, nor is it exciting in contrast to the rest of the space theme.

Improving on V3

This design is exactly what was needed. The contrast of colours highlights the name without too much strain on the eye from other areas of the logo. The brightness of the flash is enough to catch the eye but little enough to not be offensive. It shows off the scientific analogy of a change in energy in a cosmic environment with a futuristic triangular portal leading to the 'Blueshift' name. Although it doesn't scream a musical business, it is a very unique and recognisable logo and what for Blueshift, I think this is exactly what they need.
