My Companies Evolution

Updated: Jan 24, 2020

The company name I will be working under is: Pixall Entertainment. I have chosen this name as it fits aspects of the 16-25 demographic given. 'Pixall' is a remake of the word 'pixel', ensuring to involve all so no one is left out. Technology is a massive part of the general life style of people in the age group 16-25 and 'pixel' is often associated with gaming, photography and TV. This making the title name more appealing to the target audience. Play-on words are a strong USP and tend to gain more attention as they are catchy and in this case relatable.

LOGO V1

The original logo for my company was made with the idea of simplicity, colour and a particular uniqueness. The connotation of the 'pixel' element within the name is developed through the image of the camera pixelating. The camera being a major symbol of what the company is made to do - Filming. This sign is key to ensuring that any potential customers and other individuals and groups are aware of what the business does through the logo without having to research. In a survey of 10 people, all 10 people associated just the camera image alone with film, photography and video production. The idea of a futuristic business drove this particular idea forward. The slogan of 'Where film meets future' was designed to connote this. However, my general feeling about this first design was that it was possibly a bit childish and unprofessional. It had no real emotional connection and my belief was that it would be likely unmemorable or if perhaps it were memorable, it would be for the wrong reasons.

The second design came with a similar approach in the sense that it needed to be simple. The idea of a futuristic logo was perhaps the right direction with the first design. However, I wanted to try something new... or old. In this design I went retro. While keeping the pixelating camera, all colour has gone. My main thinking on this design was to catch something which no other popular film businesses capture. Warner brothers for example have a more wacky kind of logo, which does fit in with their portfolio. Others like Sony and Lions-gate have a much more simplistic design but are very sleek and perhaps futuristic. My design is different to all of these. The retro aspect is captured through the black and white colour scheme and pixelated text. This connotes classic film, unlike recent films where they are made to make money. This companies videos are made with emotion and meaning. A major aspect i picked up out of a survey of the same 10 people however was that it is slightly tacky and if they saw it at the start of a film they would expect it to be bad and have old style filming techniques that are not as good as what current technologies like CGI can do.
